Anoka is the Associate Dean of the School. Anoka manages faculty relations for the Office of the Dean, oversees the Director of Facilities, convenes the student relations committee, and is a member of both the Governing Board and the Academic Sub-Committee. As a first line of contact for general student and faculty affairs inquiries, acting as a liaison to other offices within Yale for students experiencing a range of concerns, Anoka is available for appointments to discuss individual issues (academic or otherwise) and will advise as to whether a particular situation should be brought to the Dean’s attention and/or be connected with other resources for assistance. Anoka will also lead interdepartmental programming as well as the administration of prizes and awards, providing guidance on these opportunities at the School.

Anoka Faruqee, Painter

Painter. Ms. Faruqee earned a B.A. from Yale University in 1994 and an M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art in 1997. She has exhibited her work in the United States, Asia, and Europe at such venues at P.S.1 (Queens): Dhaka Art Summit (Dhaka); and Albright-Knox Gallery (Buffalo). In 2012, she began collaborating with David Driscoll and they have since exhibited their co-authored work at the Secession (Vienna); Björkholem Gallery (Stockholm); DeCordova Museum, (Lincoln); Koenig and Clinton (New York); and Hosfelt Gallery (San Francisco). Faruqee attended the Whitney Independent Study Program, the Skowhegan School of Art, and the P.S.1 National Studio Program. Grants include the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Artadia. Ms. Faruqee has also taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and California Institute of the Arts, where she was co-director of the art program. She is a professor of painting/printmaking, appointed in 2011, serving as (co-)director of graduate studies in painting/printmaking since 2015.
