PAINTING/PRINTMAKING Art 324, Painting Materials and Methods
An introduction to historical materials and methods of painting. Through the study of masterworks in the Yale Art Gallery and the Center for British Art, and the application of observed techniques in student projects, this course bridges the historical with the hands-on. Techniques include varieties of slow-drying, indirect, layered oil painting, and modernist direct application of wet-in-wet paint; supports include wood, canvas, paper, and metal. Recommended for both art and history of art majors. Lab/materials fee: $75. Mark AronsonEditor details
